Spring term farm visit

At Thorpe Acre Infants, our Spring term [b] topic has been 'Down on the Farm' - what better way to get an understanding of life as a farmer (and part of a farming family) than to visit a working farm :-)

So, on Wednesday(s) 15th and 22nd of March, all of our pupils visited 'Roots', Thorpe Farm in Barkby.

Our Foundation Stage classes were very fotunate to enjoy their day in the sunshine but colder, wetter weather, didn't stop our Key Stage 1 children enjoying their tractor ride and 'milking the cow'.

We got hear about examples of working life on a farm and changes to this old family run business over time, including the change from dairy farming, the introduction of Alpacas (can you spot them in the photo?) and opening of a farm shop.
