Five Medway primary schools have recently achieved their Food for Life Schools Award. This demonstrates their commitment to making changes and putting good practice in place, transforming their food culture with support from staff, pupils and the wider community.
The five awarded schools are:
These schools have been growing their own food, like strawberries, carrots and potatoes, and encouraging pupils to try it too. They also take part in regular cooking activities and share their learning with families. A good food culture is embedded throughout their settings, from healthy and sustainable food in the dinner hall to learning where our food comes from in lessons. Staff and teachers from these schools have attended training sessions run by Food for Life experts and have enthusiastically taken part in Food for Life events such as Cook and Share and Plant and Share.
Food for Life would like to congratulate these schools for their hard work!
