The Academy of Woodlands get baking!

They took turns adding spices, cracking and beating eggs, cutting and placing the pastry cases, and even making the crumbly topping for the mince pies. They especially loved drizzling the icing on the warm ginger buns when they were fresh out of the oven, filling the hall with delicious and festive smells!

The Academy of Woodlands offer a cooking club for pupils on a term-by-term basis, meaning many pupils can benefit each year. When asked what they think of the club, one pupil shared that “it’s really fun!” whilst another said “we can show off our skills.”

Grace, Local Programme Manager for Food for Life Medway, was lucky enough to be invited along to the festive baking session and left with some delicious mince pies and a bun to enjoy at home.
