Walverden Primary School achieve Food for Life Bronze Award

One of these changes was the substantial development of the school’s allotment space. Rachel and colleagues identified waste land by the school which showed perfect potential for an allotment area. After considerable perseverance, help from the school community and hard work by the school’s caretaker Andy, the area has been transformed into a wonderful allotment.

The space is used daily by all year groups within the school to plant, water, tidy and complete plenty of other gardening jobs! The area is also proving to be a great wellbeing space and the children often visit to enjoy reading, art and other learning activities.

The next phase of the allotment will include planting more trees, bushes and wildflowers, and adding more covered seating areas. It’s a wonderful project which will evolve beautifully over the next few years for the school community to enjoy. Well done Walverden Primary!
