With over 20 years of experience working throughout the country, Food for Life Lancashire will engage the most deprived schools and early years settings to embed a positive food culture that will ultimately help children to access and eat a more balanced diet.
The creation of community hubs, support to increase the uptake of school meals, training for school staff around nutrition and cooking, and the development of food leadership will all be part of the programme, helping the Food for Life ethos and approach reach far beyond the school gates and into the wider communities of Lancashire.
Local Programme Manager, Libby Shaw, who will be working with schools across the district to embed the programme, says:
“I am very excited to be working on the Food for Life programme, making healthy food choices the easy option for everyone. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact for children, families and communities in Lancashire. I look forward to developing this programme over the next two years and seeing it grow and flourish!”

County Councillor Michael Green, Lancashire County Council's cabinet member for Health and Wellbeing, said:
"Lancashire County Council have committed to ensuring children have the best start in life and this is one of the three priorities of the Lancashire Health and Wellbeing Board. Commissioning Food For Life will support this priority, encouraging children to learn about food and where it comes from, and promoting access to good nutrition from a young age. We believe this is vital to children's development, health and wellbeing and importantly builds the foundations for their future."
