Congratulations to Washingborough Academy, who have achieved Food for Life Served Here (FFLSH) Gold award since 2016!
The school have worked incredibly hard to achieve the standards for their FFLSH Gold award, serving healthy and sustainable food that’s good for our health, nature and the climate.
Jason O’Rourke, Headteacher, said:
"Our school community are extremely proud to have been awarded the Gold Food for Life Served Here award for the sixth year running. This accolade gives us a framework to further support the children's food education and educate our families and wider community about the need for shorter supply chains and incredible variety of seasonal food that is grown and produced at our school and in our local area."

"It’s inspiring to hear about the work Jason is doing at Aurum Academies. To retain the gold award in these challenging times is testament to the commitment from the school put on serving food that has impact on our climate, nature and the health of their students."
This success is an incredible testament to the school and catering staff, and their dedication to the children they feed. We recognise the turbulent time that public sector caterers are facing, with supply chain issues and staff shortages.
As a gold FFLSH award-holder, they ensure that:
- Over a quarter of their spend is on organic produce
- Over 60% of their spend on raw ingredients is produce grown/made in the UK
- Over a quarter of their spend is on produce from their region
Headteacher Jason O’Rourke is the Founder of TastEd, opening to doors to healthier food choices for children through sensory based-food education. Food for Life offer TastEd support to our schools. You can find out more about TastEd here.
