Share a School Dinner Day

It celebrates the importance of a healthy, freshly prepared and sustainable school lunch. It encourages children to try school meals and shines a spotlight on the hard work of cooks and caterers.

It is held midway through National School Meals Week and sees caterers, schools and their communities come together to enjoy great school food. This could be shared in person by inviting parents or community members into school for a meal or tasting event. Or share pictures of your school food on your school’s social media channels or in your school newsletter. It’s a fantastic opportunity to promote school dinners and encourage children to try school meals.

1. Register for Cook and Share and select ‘Share a School Dinner Day’ from the dropdown menu
2. Snap your school dinner. This could be a picture of your lovely lunch servers, your dining room, pupils enjoying their school dinner or a plate of delicious food.
3. Share your photos on social media using #ShareASchoolDinnerDay and tagging @SAFoodforlife
4. Why not share the photos in your school newsletter too? This will showcase your brilliant school food to parents and carers.
5. Even better, why not invite parents or your school community members into school to share a hot lunch with pupils, or run a tasting event after school?
